The Tiger I weighed in at a mammoth 56 tons and was the biggest tank in the war until it was outclassed by the Tiger II at 69.7 tons. The Tiger I was armed with the L/56 88 mm gun that could lob a 20 pound shell through 110 mm of sloped 30 sloped armor at a range of 500 yards. However, the sheer mass and weight of the Tiger I restricted mobility (many bridges could not support it) and relegated it to mainly defensive duties.
